On-prem Microsoft SQL Server is an important storage platform for many TimeXtender customers, especially those on TimeXtender Classic. For that reason, we want to be clear on the policy we follow for supporting major releases of Microsoft SQL Server.
- TimeXtender supports a new major version of SQL Server for 10 years after release, following Microsoft's own policy.
- When a SQL Server version is officially supported, we'll implement any conditional logic that is required to make the version work with new features, as well as fix any bugs that affects specific versions.
- When a SQL Server version is out of support, we do not take steps to prevent it from working with TimeXtender. However, we don't make any effort to ensure that it works with new functionality, and bugs that affect an unsupported version only will not be prioritized.
- If we knowingly break support for an unsupported version of SQL Server in a new TimeXtender release, we will include that in the release notes.
