    In what cases would this be used ?  can you give some examples please ?

    The most obvious reason for using the table insert feature is if you want to merge tables on the staging level instead of having to do it on the dwh-level. That way you can avoid adding similar lookups / transformations to multiple staging tables.

    Another usage is if you have a pivoted data source, ie a budget with accounts on rows, months on columns and amount in the cells. Then you could add 12 table inserts, each inserting the account number, the amount and an individual month.

    Is it possible to set a filter to define which records should be inserted ?

    e.g. I have a code definition table (type, code, description) which stores codes and descriptions for several types.  I'd like to create a table in the Staging DB for each type in the main table.

    At this point it is not possible to add filters or selection rules on the table insert feature - but I would suggest adding it to the suggestions and feature requests since that would be a nice add-on to the feature!
