Configure Azure SQL Database Managed Instance for Discovery Hub

Overview

This guide is designed to provide the reader with an overview of the deployment of the data platform components of a Discovery Hub implementation on Azure SQL Database Managed Instance®. 

Discovery Hub Architecture for Azure SQL Database Managed Instance

To deploy Discovery Hub successfully for an Azure SQL Database Managed Instance deployment, you will need to provision a Discovery Hub Application Server and an Azure SQL Database Managed Instance Environment. 

1. Discovery Hub Application Server:

The Discovery Hub is deployed in Azure as Infrastructure as a Service (Iaas) and can be deployed through the Azure Marketplace. When deployed through the Azure Marketplace, the Discovery Hub is in a “Certified for Azure” IaaS environment, with IaaS support by Microsoft. 

Provision Discovery Hub in Azure

 

If SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is going to be used as a data transfer mechanism, this must also be installed on the Application Server.

2. Configure your Azure SQL Database Managed Instance Environment

Azure SQL DB MI requires to be created in a VNET. To configure an Azure SQL Database Managed Instance environment, follow this guide:
