Dynamic XML as datasource

Hi all,I’m still quite new to timextender so I appreciate all the help you guys give me.I have quite alot of different XML files containing alot of data. It’s product catalogs with porentially 40K products that contains different kind of parameters .. each product’s parameters varies from product to product .. som tell you the country of origin, som dont .. on some of the products there is information about delivery dates some and on some there aren’t.So all-in-all the different products and the different files varies a quite alot. The content of these files can change each day and some multiple times each day .. I would think that we all in all are talking about 600.000 different products.How would you approach this ?Is it possible for timextender to handle this or do I have to make some kind of XML-parser ?I guess I’m going to make a unique key there is based on the products no. and another parameter, but would you predefine the different parameters as a Field so I have to add a new

BC Adapter - Merge extension tables option

In version 20.10.39 you sneaked in a new features in the BC Adapter data source: 17627: Business Central adapter - Merge extension tables option for SQL Server provider Added option to merge a table and its extension tables together as one table. This feature could be very useful but I can’t find any documentation on how it works and if there are any limits or considerations that need to be taken into account.Initial testing suggest that it works for some tables but maybe not for tables in extension modules?

Connecting TimeXtender to Topdesk doesn't show all tables

A customer I am working with is trying to connect Topdesk to TimeXtender through an OData feed. A connection is made, but not all tables are available for ingestion.When the customer changes the connection url to connect to just 1 table, TimeXtender has no issues connecting to it and retrieving the data from that 1 table. To test if this there maybe was a setting in Topdesk that was missed we tried to connect from Power Query using the original url. Can I retrieve the individual file names of an aggregated Excel table?

I have a folder that contains several Excel files I want to combine into one table. However, the week and year that the individual files refer to are only contained in the file names, not in the files themselves. Therefore, I have no way of knowing the week and year that a row of data belongs to when I aggregate the files using the Excel data source. Is there a way to aggregate all Excel files in the folder while also keeping information about which file a record came from? Or is making a separate data source for each file the only solution to keep this information?By the way, the Excel files are stored on a server requiring username and password, so the TimeXtender Excel data source is (currently) not an option.

Issue while connection to Adventure Works

Hello! I’m new to TimeXtender and I was trying to complete the training but I’m having issues connecting to the Adventure Works database via TimeXtender. I connect just fine via SQL Server Management Studio 20: But when I try to connect with the same credentials and configurations via TimeXtender I get the following error message: Can anyone help me figure out what the issue is? Correct charset for special characters in CSV data source?

Hi TXD community: In ODX server we have built a CData data source connection with CSV 2023 provider. Kindly see the connection details below. The synchronization went successfully but the transfer task completed with one error and one warning.The error is :”System.Data.CData.CSV.CSVException (0x80004005): [500] Could not execute the specified command: Unable to translate bytes [E1] at index 3790 from specified code page to Unicode.” This error appears due to a strange character in a string ”Nicolás” in the source file and it shows as UTF-8 as below, as you can see from the connection details we have setup UTF-8 charset. So I have tried to ANSI charset but get the error “System.Data.CData.CSV.CSVException (0x80004005): [500] Could not execute the specified command: 500 -- 'ANSI' is not a supported encoding name. For information on defining a custom encoding, see the documentation for the Encoding.RegisterProvider method.” Do you know the valid encoding in this case or where is the docum

Hi all, I am trying to connect to a CSV data source on Azure Storage Account File Shares. I have the CDATA configured as below according to Connect to CSV with CData – TimeXtender Support. But when I test the connection I got error “The given path's format is not supported.” Can you guys help me find the reason why? That would be much appreciated.

Loading Excel file from Sharepoint with Excel Online connector

Good day,for our customer we want to get data from an Excel file which is stored in their Sharepoint. We've used the documentation from this article.The authentication is successful and we are getting some results but not the Excel files. If we test it with our own (Victa) Sharepoint then we see many results and also Excel files.Below the screenshots from Victa and the second from our customer.Results loading from our own Victa Sharepoint (same connector and settings (entra id > app permissions)Same Excel Online connector but configured for the customer in their own Sharepoint.We cant figure out the difference because we use the same setup (clone) of the Excel Connector. Does the user who is authenticating the connector within TimeXtender need more rights on the Sharepoint side? We already gave for testing the account Owner rights and also added many API Permissions to the app registration.Hopefully somebody has an idea.

Good Day All, At this moment we have the following challenge: Client is utilizing TX version 20.10.43.64. Client requested us to add new fields. We've modified the *.rsd file, columns are being created however data is not visible after we've deplooy and execute. We've verified the source and can confirm that data is entered. Azure Data Factory - SQL Server (14.0.0.0) was not found

Hi I am trying to use ADF to connect to a on-premise SQL Database with some very large tables for transfer.I selected the Azure Data Factory - SQL Server (14.0.0.0) as the source and created the datasource.When I tried to Synchronize the ODX source in TX desktop (6521.1) I got the error message that the assembly for the provider is not installed.I cannot change the provider without creating a new data source (product enhancement request!), Do I need to upgrade the TX Desktop to get access to the drivers? Or is it some other install that I need to do? I cant find any documentation on this.

Can you connect SQL Server database to ODX via a linked server?

Hi,A customer running version 6536.1 has provided us with a SQL Server database on a linked server (server L) as source, but we haven´t managed to connect to it so far.There is no problem running queries to that database on server L from management studio, when the query is run from the context of a database on server/instance where the linked server is added (server TX). This is a different windows server than the linked server.The appserver with the ODX-service is on yet another Windows server. The ODX database resides on server TX. Connecting to the ODX db and the TimeXtender MDW’s on server TX works fine.Is it possible to use a linked server as a source? If so, how should the server name(s) be specified in the connections settings in the portal?BRAnders

External Tables - Orchestration options

We are investigating the External Table feature to handle some special tables outside of TX, but still be able to utilize these for down-stream TX based processing.We would like to orchestrate the updates of these table from TimeXtender, but it seems like pre- and post execute scripts are not allowed on these tables.Can you confirm that pre- and post scripts are not available for external tables, alternatively provide a work-around to enable these. (It seems like a strange design choice to remove these hooks for this feature).Also, I find the schema option page grayed out on the table settings for an External table, would be nice to be able to put the generated views in some meaningful containers (not dbo).Thanks in advance.

Using App Registration for Authentication on Azure SQL DB

I was looking into using a managed identity (App Registration) to authenticate TimeXtender with Azure SQL DB resources, but can't get it to work. I couldn't find much documentation on the support site either.I created a login on the database using T-SQL. I can also login with SSMS using the Azure Active Directory - Service Principal method: I'm trying by using the Active Directory Password Authentication method in the Connection Settings dialog. Hi,We use BU's and some sources are created in another TX project.How can I verify / check the dependency of a source in this case a SQL table?For example I have in the BU a SQL table (using global database) that is created in another TX project.How can I check which TX project has created this table?And also in general, how can I create a dependency list of a TX projects (dependency with other TX projects)?Is this stored in the repository?
