Execution succesful but notification e-mail

Hi all, at a client we have encountered a curious situation with execution e-mail notifications, hopefully you will be able to help us figure it out. There are 5 scheduled execution packages for BU's that run every morning. Since two days we are getting e-mail notifications saying these have failed, but when we look in in TimeXtender they in fact have executed successfully. Each BU execution throws a different connection error message:ERROR [HY000] [MySQL][ODBC 8.0(w) Driver]Can't connect to MySQL server on 'XXXXXX' (10060) Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts. TempDB is growing rapidly in terms of disk space, how to avoid/troubleshoot this?

Hi community,I have a question about the Temp DB in SQL Server. We have a customer where the TempDB is growing rapidly, the disk is expanded multiple times. Although it is not a problem to expand this disk again for this customer. I want to understand how we can avoid the TempDB growing rapidly?I do not have a DBA background. The TempDB for this customer is 40 GB at the moment. All ‘heavy’ tables are loaded incrementally and batch cleansing is enabled for these tables. I have some questions:I know batch cleansing is preventing the logs will grow rapidly, but does it also have impact on the TempDB? Are there any other table settings in TimeXtender can help reducing the TempDB size? Does the number of threads in a execution package have impact on the TempDB? Are there any best practices in determining the correct/optimal disk size for the TempDB? Are there any troubleshooting ideas/tools for this?Any other suggestions?

Benefits of pre defining a Relation or just defining the Relation while Adding a Conditional look Up

Hallo,Iam really new to all of the Timextender functionalities, so i have a small case/question for the Community: I would like to join two tables and i dont know, if I first define the relation between the two tables or just drag the field into the othe table and create a lookup field  then I will have the option to define a specific relation for this field. Where are the benefits of creating a relation first ? ty in advance FEN

Date TableTutorial

To analyze data over time, it's common to include a date dimension in your data model. By adding a date table to your data area, you can provide the semantic instance with a time dimension that can be used in calculations. Date tables are typically added to semantic instances because they simplify the calculation needed to compare different dates related to each other. In addition to using various components of the date value as time dimensions (Day, Week, Month, Quarter, Year), date tables also contain indexes that help determine the relation of any date value to the current date.Updating a Date TableCustom time periods can be added to account for special periods of time such as holidays or yearly sales campaigns. These custom periods can be comprised of one or more individual time periods and provide a quick and convenient way to account for these special periods of time.Adding a date table Add a Date Hierarchy. Set up a Fiscal year Set up custom periods Set up custom names Adding

ODX Data source include vs Exclude tables

At one of my clients we are using the ODX and they set it up that for every different type of load they added the data source multiple times. So for the normal full loads there is 1 source . For the incremental loads of the same source there is a different source. In the data source selection the include only the tables they need for the full load. and they do the same for the incremental. But from time to time task wil not execute without showing up in the execution log without an error. I have the feeling that because the includes je indirectly exclude the other tables and if they are running at the same time this cancels each other out. In the windows logs you can see that the package then is skipped but it's no where to be found in TX.Does anyone have an explenation about this and/or an idea how we can fix this?My idea was that maybe putting everything in 1 source and then create 2 different transfer task instead of 2 different sources would fix this problem. Would love to hear from

Use tables from one project in another project (from the same database)

We have multiple TimeXtender projects that use the same databases for their ODX/DSA/MDWs. What is the best way to use tables from one project in another one of the other projects? "Add External SQL Connection" seems to be an option, should this still be used if the table we want to connect to is in the same database?

 Reference Architectures

Azure SQL Database Reference Architecture

This is a standard reference architecture to implement TimeXtender fully in Azure, the goal is to balance performance and cost, when working in the cloud. To prepare your TimeXtender environment in Azure, here are the steps we recommend.1. Create Application Server - Azure VM 2. Create ODX Storage - Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 3. Prepare for Ingest and Transport - Azure Data Factory (optional) 4. Create MDW Storage - Azure SQL Database 5. Configure Power BI Premium Endpoint (Optional) 6. Estimate Azure Costs 1. Create Application Server - Azure VMTo serve the TimeXtender application in Azure, we recommend using an Azure Virtual Machine (VM), sized according to your solution's requirements.Guide: Create Application Server - Azure VMConsiderations: Recommended Sizing: DS2_v2 (for moderate workloads). See Azure VM Sizes documentation for more detail. This VM will host the below services, and must remain running for TimeXtender to function ODX Server Service Execution Server Configuration

OAuth with authorization prefix "Bearer "

Hi,I am trying to connect to a REST API that uses OAuth2 authentication. The API documentation is very clear on what to include in the authentication:  I have entered all this information in the REST CData provider and I can successfully use the provider’s “Authorize OAuth” button. However, when I try to test the connection, error “401 - Unauthorizated” is returned. In the API documentation, they state that the token needs a prefix “Bearer “.I suspect my error is caused by the REST CData provider sending the authorization header without the Bearer prefix, like so:Authorization: {ACCESS_TOKEN}Which the API of course does not accept. Is there any way to include a prefix to the token in the authorization header?

Customer Success Story: Medisch Spectrum Twente (MST)

In 2021, together with the customer, Axians started a project at Medisch Spectrum Twente, a large hospital located in the east of The Netherlands. The aim of the project was to replace a legacy Frankenstack of BI tooling (SAP Data Services, SAP Business Objects and others) with a future-proof cloud based dataplatform. Leveraging the power of the Axians Maestro Platform, based on Microsoft Azure, and of course TimeXtender, MST now has a comprehensive, modern Data Estate that is used by hundreds of employees.Together with the customer, we have achieved the following goals:Training BI employees at the customer Build the complete Data Estate from the ground up using Azure, TimeXtender and PowerBI Much better and faster business insights (shorter time to market) Lower TCO Easy oversight and management of the entire solution Stable and well manageable data loadsTimeXtender was the absolute best match for this project because it was the only tool able to facilitate the entire data flow, from s

Excel Online connector sometimes fail with "Error while listing workbooks for drive"

Hi,I am running a legacy version of TimeXtender (version 20.10.40.64), where we have an Excel Online connection set up using CData ADO.NET Provider for Microsoft Excel Online 2022 (22.0.8389.0) as data source. This data source is configured to authenticate via Azure ‘client flow’, see picture. The app registration in Azure has the following permissions:  The data source works properly most of the time. It is able to list the worksheets it finds on the SharePoint site, and can fetch data. However, scheduled execution packages sometimes fails with the following error message:[500] Could not execute the specified command: Error while listing workbooks for drive: [generalException] General exception while processing. Full deployment functionality to Snowflake

HelloAt the moment we are processing our MDW datawarehouse to an Azure SQL Database and then we copy data to Snowflake. We want to change this to Snowflake directly however only when it is possible to fully deploy to Snowflake (transformations included).I know it is hard to give an exact timeline when this becomes available but do I need to think in a couple of months or in a couple of quarters or is this even low priority at the moment?Looking forward to your response,Greetings, Roy

Date field is converted to an integer.

Hello, To my understanding TimeXtender determines the data type of a column based on first x amount of rows, depending on your setup in the portal.  The fields in my source  come in as (dd.mm.yyy) for example: "05.03.2021”. I use a Storage Account with a CSV connection.  I would expect that TimeXtender creates a "date” date type out of this. However, is seems that if a field character starts with a '0’, it skips it. In the ODX it shows an Integer value '5032023’.ODX: Depending if a character starts with a '0’ the fields (dates) show up like: It counts for all date fields and costs me a lot of time to create a work around each time. I tried to override the datatype in my data source but without succes. Help would be much appreciated.

Use variables on Query tables

Hi,I have a project that is using the cdata connector as a datasource, and because of issues with paging and nested call we have created query tables to get the correct results (using queryslicer in the rsd-files).Because of performance issues the tables have to be setup for incremental loading, but I cannot get this working because I need the incremental value in the call.Is it somehow possible to use a variable or a field from another table in the Quey tables to get the incremental value? When using a fixed date the logic is working fine (as shown below) but that's not workable:    SELECT *     FROM [REST].[EventRegistration_Detail]      WHERE [file_name] IN         (SELECT [Name]          FROM [REST].[EventRegistration_List]         WHERE [Properties.Last-Modified] > '2023-01-01')  (using TX 20.10.30.64 with Business Units) Any good suggestions on this? Kind regards,Jacqueline

Mail notifications not working - SMTP server does not support authentication

Hi,I am using legacy TimeXtender 20.10.40.64, and am attempting to set up email notifications for execution package failures.I have been given the information for the destination (email load balancing relay):IP: 150.xx.xx.1Port: 25The destination firewall supposedly has all necessary ports open, although I don’t have direct access to check this. When I test the notification, I receive the error “The SMTP server does not support authentication.” (see the picture below). The app registration on Azure has the following API permissions (all delegated and granted admin consent):Microsoft Graph User.Read Microsoft Graph Mail.Send Microsoft Graph SMTP.Send I haven’t been able to find any information about the error message and what could be causing it. Any help or pointers for troubleshooting this further would be appreciated. Best regards,Pontus
