Decryption possibility in TXD on Azure

Hello, We have our data warehouse setup on TXD Portal.Our data source is with provider Azure Data Factory - SQL Server and the data loaded in our Ingest instances is in Azure data lake storage. Then the data is processed in our prepare instances also in Azure SQL database.The question is now from the data source we have some columns being encrypted via AES_ENCRYPT pySpark function with 16bit key. Is there a possibility to decrypt the data anywhere from our end in ingest instances or prepare instances. For example to add a customized script somewhere (preferably in pySpark as well using AES_DECRYPT function) ? Otherwise, is there encryption method that can be applied from the data source and by that we can decrypt more easily in TXD in SQL Server?Looking forward to your suggestion/answer. Thank you.

Security on dimension issue

Hello,Strange behavior and tricky to explain but I will do my best.I have a dimension (company) where I have set security on. So I created different roles (by company) and for example the role = Company1 will only see data related to Company1.So I have several roles and some users are allocated to different roles, meaning they are allowed to see data form Company1 and Company2 and they can use that Company dimension to filter.The strange behavior is that those user only see part of the data of Company2.Example is production orders, when they look into the report with company filter they see ± 20 production orders. When I look at the report (and I have no limited security) I see 500 production orders.So I am a bit confused and not sure how to solve it. When I add a user to the Role with no security they can also see everything. I would better understand if they would see nothing of Company2 but they do see limited data.Any idea how to better investigate ?Also it is hard to remove a user

Metadata & Logs now available in TDI

Hi,This week TimeXtender released the Metadata & Logs functionality for TDI. This provides valuable insights, such as reload times, failures, field and table usage, and much more! Just wanted to share how to setup the Metadata & Logs functionality: Step 1: Add metadata collections and data sourceStep 2: Map the “TX-Meta_collection” source to your ODXStep 3: load the data into your ingest layer in TDI. Please note that Meta collections are refreshed once per day. Multiple environment transfer after upgrade of servers

Hello, I have an Acceptance and Production environment and using multiple environments transfer.Now both servers are new and also TX is upgraded (latest version) and the connection between them seems to be gone after this. How do I setup the multiple environment again ? Just by adding an environment or can I get it back from the ‘old’ TimeXtender ? Thanks, Ronny

Connect to excel files with Excel online - Authentication failed. Empty OAuth file

Hi,I am trying to connect to excel files stored in a Microsoft SharePoint. I have followed the guide Connect to Excel files with Excel Online. I have created a Custom OAuth App for Azure Service Principal Authentication and assigned the role Owner to the created OAuth app. I added the Sharepoint URL under MISC and added Azure tenant, OatuhClientID and OAuthClientSecret.  However, when I press the “Authorize OAuth” I get:  Authentication failed. TX REST Release Notes

Hi,Do you have any release notes or something regarding the version update on the TimeXtender REST Connector? It’s quite a jump in version number. We have put quite some work into configuring this and getting it working the way we want, so I’m a little bit reluctant to just press Upgrade on chance. :)

Timeouts when transfer from azure datalake storage ingest instance to the prepare instance

when we load a table from the data lake it keeps failing after 4 till 5 hours. we have tried different timeout settings but the execution from the datalake to the sql storage keeps failing.See the screenshots and the error message below. In fact I have now 2 tickets open for a timeout issue. for 2 different problems.

Update repository version

Dear all,Upon trying to migrate the mdw instance from DEVelopment to PRODuction environment, the following error message appears:Error: Target repository version 5.0.0.0 does not match source repository version 5.0.2.0DEV and PROD environments are both in the same TX desktop app, version 6766.1In the portal, under Data estate > Instances > mdw development instance and mdw production instance, i can’t find any version info.Any suggestions welcome.

Hello,While migrating from TX 20.10.35.64 to new version 6675.2 with the Portal, we’re running into issues with connecting to a certain data source. I’m getting the same error message in the Portal as i’m getting in SSMS.In our current environment on Azure VM A I’m able to successfully connect to the datasource running on Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP2) - 10.50.4042.0 (X64)   Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation  Express Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.2 <X64> (Build 9200: ) (Hypervisor)  using the TimeXtender SQL Data Source 16.1.0.1 version. I’m also able to connect through SSMS to this Server.However, using the same settings and credentials on our new environment on Azure VM B using the portal I’m not able to connect, resulting in the error message below. The portal has SQL Data Source version 17+, so not sure if that has something do with it. Using the SqlClient Data Provider Source results in the same error.Meanwhile, I’m also not able to connect to this server with SSMS

Excel from SFTP Datasource

Hello team!I need to extract a Excel file from an SFTP server. I successfully created my SFTP datasource :SFTP Connection But I only see the ‘root’ folder on data selection section. When I click preview I can see all my files but I don’t know what to do to get them ! Root  Could you help me on the next step ? Thanks a lot!Christine

Health-chek for TX

We have moved from on-premise to AZURE a few months ago. Our TX server is on a node in AZURE and so is our DWH.I have observed that jobs that took a few minutes to complete when we were on-premise now takes much longer.I am wondering if there is a way to person a “health-check” on TX?

Azure AD Data Source cannot generate schema files?

Hi Folks, I'm trying to use the Azure AD data source to get information from our Azure AD into TimeXtender. I'm extracting User, Group and GroupMembership information using this data source. So far it's working but i notice that a lot of columns that were found are not filled (NULL). If i do a test with PostMan to the Graph API, i see that the fields are filled in (Department and CompanyName).I’ve also enabled logging, i see the Graph API request being made: I don't see the fields that i want come back in the results: I'm guessing that the schema used to get the data from the API does not contain my field so i want to add them. Normally i would generate the schema files using the ‘Generate Schema Files’ option on the portal and edit those to expand the call to the API. There is an option to specify the location of the schema files, but i'm lacking the ‘Generate Schema Files’ option like we have on other similar data sources:  Is there maybe an option to enable this outside the portal?

TimeXtender Portal Changes to DataSources

Hi I wanted to verify what I am seeing as recent changes to the TimeXtender Portal data source definitions.I distinctly remember being able to switch how a data source was being used to upload data to the ODX whether it was going to use AD).NET or ADF. If I selected ADF then I had to enter the ADF credentials.This seems to have disappeared in recent changes. I was using CDATA REST API connectors, I can no no -longer switch between transfer methods without it seems defining new connections. Can someone confirm this and let me know how I can switch between these transfers without creating new data sources?

Copy to instance not working - Unclear why

Goodmorning Everyone, I'm trying to copy the development to production right now but i'm not able to transfer the ODX because of the following error: I filled in everything correctly but it doesn't work. What frustrates me that the GUI doesn't tell me what's wrong. I tried several thing (even getting rid of data source mappings that are unused) but nothing seems to help. There are no ODX <> MDW mappings that need resolving or any other errors. Only thing that i can think of that one source is giving errors on synchronize (the TimeXtender API to read Job Logs). Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Hi all,We have a prospect who uses TimeXtender for data management, with Qlik Sense providing the Visualizations. They have purchased TimeXtender in a bundle with Qlik Sense and NPrinting and Checkpro which is and android App.Data Structure is created in TimeXtender along with calculated fields and filters and aggregated tables and it is taken from there into Qlik Sense via MSSQL. TimeXtender also loads the data.Data is coming in to Qlik Sense from Excel.The company would like to get rid of TimeXtender and use Qlik Sense exclusively by utilising everything as is, but without TimeXtender. They are not familiar with the SQL scripts in TimeXtender because it is not visible for them. In TimeXtender they just had to drag and drop all the tables to create the data structure, but with Qlik Sense they will have to rewrite all the scripts manually to recreate the same structure.My question is does anybody have any similar experience or any idea? To migrate everything from one system into anothe

Hello Support Team and Community,I'm a System Administrator. I'm reaching out for help with a licensing issue we've encountered with TimeXtender after updating our golden image. Environment:VMware Horizon: Version 2303 SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager): Version 2309 VDI Operating System: Windows 10 LTSC 1809 TimeXtender: Version 20.10.43.64Problem Description: Following a significant update to our golden image, which included various software updates (except TimeXtender), the TimeXtender license is no longer recognized. This update was deployed following our standard procedure via SCCM, without any modification to the PowerShell script used for installing TimeXtender and deploying the Codeletter.xml license file.Symptom: TimeXtender is requesting activation, whereas the license file, generated in October for our current version, should be valid and recognized automatically. Questions for Support:License Management: Does TimeXtender use the "hardware ID" to generate the license

V21 Instance Copy dialog asking to map 2 ODX instances

I have just completed a migration for a client from V20 to V21.I have created Dev UAT and Production Data warehouse instances and I have a Dev ODX and a Production ODX instance.In my V20 project there was only one ODX (v20 limitation). I have re-created that ODX instance as my “DataLake Prod” instance and my plan is to build out the “DataLake Dev” instance in the future and move the Dev and UAT DW instances to use the “DataLake Dev”.But that is for the future. My goal right now is to complete the migration as is and get it up and running for testing and signoff.I have migrated my Dev Data Warehouse deployed and loaded successfully. I am now looking to promote the Dev instance to the UAT instance. When I try that I get a dialog requesting that I map 2 instances of the “DataLake Prod” ODX instance which makes no sense. I also have to choose a different ODX instance for each mapping. The result is the dialog below. When I execute it the copy fails with a “Mapping Error” message!Any sugges

Project Variables in

Hello, TimeXtender 20.10.40.64.I have created a simple project variable that takes the environment name. Our goal was to use the project variable in a transformation to say that if a hard coded table field = project variable then 1 else 0.The issue is I cannot use this field in transformations without timextender failing on deploying the table.In the dev environment I have tried sereral ways to achieve this. Custom field transformations where I try to use project variable in any way just results in the error “invalid column name “X”. Where X is whatever enviroment I try to deploy it on.Is there any way to use environment project variables other then usage conditions on execution packages?Thank you,Victor

Why cant i only Execute instead of 'Deploy and Execute'?

I have a table in my Application layer which is based on a view from DSA.The table in Applicaiton layer is a write-back from PBI App where certain columns have data from existing tables and others are empty so that Power App can write to these.Whenever i make a change in my view, the table in Application becomes red.I have tested the following senarios and both times i needed to Deploy and Execute to get rid of the red color and star at the end:Senario 1:Made a minor change in VIEW:From:Select column1 as A from table1toSelect column2 as A from table1I kept the alias but change the column.Senario 2:Wrote a few commentsNow the issue is, i cant Deploy and Execute because then it wont keep the last changes written from PBI App. I need to just Execute or just save so that it wont be overritten/initialized.Is there a way to only Execute when changes dont impact the table structure in Applicatons?

TimeXtender API Endpoint questions

Hi, we are trying to use the TX API endpoint (https://support.timextender.com/timextender-portal-111/timextender-api-endpoints-1110) to check whether TimeXtender jobs have run or failed (or have warnings). We want to check this with Zabbix monitoring tool.For this check, we are only interested in the last run of a job. The TX API gives us a number of functions, like:GET /public/jobs/{job_id}/status: this only gives status none, pending and running. Not failed, errors, warning, ok et cetera…. GET /public/jobs/{job_id}/logs: this one gives status like completed, failed, warning. But it gives the status of al jobs that have run the last weeks. It also shows ‘severity’ as a property, but it's not documented what different severity states mean.Questions:How can we filter in job logs, so we only get the last execution with status of the execution (errors, failed, ok, ...) ?  What do different severity states (0,2,..?) mean?Our main goal is to get the status of the last job exectution.Thanks!
