Issue while connection to Adventure Works

Hello!

I’m new to TimeXtender and I was trying to complete the training but I’m having issues connecting to the Adventure Works database via TimeXtender.

I connect just fine via SQL Server Management Studio 20:

But when I try to connect with the same credentials and configurations via TimeXtender I get the following error message:

Can anyone help me figure out what the issue is? At the moment this is really impacting my training

Thank you in advance for your help :)

Dear @marianaandrade ,

sometimes I forget to put in the 'trust server certificate'. I usually check the learntimextender - Portal page:
https://timextender.training/portal#data-sources

And you are using the TimeXtender SQL connector? (I'm not sure which version of TX you are running)

Hope this helps

Hi,

do you have SSMS installed on the same machine as TimeXtender?

Hi Rory,

Yes, I have the SSMS 20 on the same virtual machine as TimeXtender

Hi,

it should not be required but you can try installing: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/connect/oledb/download-oledb-driver-for-sql-server?view=sql-server-ver16 on the VM. It looks like you are connecting to Azure SQL DB so there should be no requirements other than SSMS to connect.

Installed it and I still get the same error. Do you have any other suggestions?

Hi,

just to be sure: your ODX Server is also on that machine? If so, I would create a support ticket.

Hi @marianaandrade

Can you add what you did to make this work? So others can get help if they experience the same.

@marianaandrade can you please confirm if you are still encountering the issue? Did you try enabling the trust server certificate property?
