This article describes how to upgrade TimeXtender Data Integration to the latest version. Since TimeXtender Data Integration is composed of services that may be running operations in the background, it is best to follow the steps below to ensure that the upgrade completes smoothly.
Note: This article does not cover migrating from the legacy version 20.10 - see the Migration Tool article for more information on this
Pre-Upgrade Checklist
- Ensure all Deployments have completed
- Ensure that no execution packages are running
- Close TimeXtender Data Integration
- Go to Services on the App Server, and stop the TimeXtender Ingest Service and the TimeXtender Execution Service
- Right-click both the TimeXtender Ingest Service and the TimeXtender Execution Service, select Properties, and set the Startup Type to Disabled as you will be installing new versions of these services
Upgrade Steps
- Download latest version of TimeXtender Ingest Service
- Install TimeXtender Ingest Service by opening the download folder and running the Setup.exe file
- Launch the TimeXtender Ingest Service Configuration and sign-in. Select the Ingest instance to run on the VM. If you are running multiple Ingest instances with services on multiple virtual machines (VMs), repeat this step on each VM and select the appropriate Ingest instance. Go to Services and ensure that the Ingest service is running. Right-click on the TimeXtender Ingest Service and set the Startup Type to Automatic (Delayed Start)
- Download the latest version of TimeXtender Data Integration
- Install TimeXtender Data Integration by opening the download folder and running the Setup.exe file
- Launch the TimeXtender Execution Service Configuration and select the instances that you intend on setting up scheduled executions for. Go to Services and ensure that the Execution Server service is running. Right-click on the TimeXtender Execution Service and set the Startup Type to Automatic (Delayed Start)
Post Upgrade Checklist
- Open up each instance by double-clicking on it in TimeXtender Data Integration. You may get confirmation messages similar to the below, click Upgrade or Yes to upgrade the instance
- As a general best practice, we recommend updating data source providers in the Portal
- As a general best practice, we recommend uninstalling previous versions of TimeXtender Data Integration using Add or remove programs in System Settings
