Hi,

I have a SSAS tabular model that is deployed to Azure. The model executes fine most of the time and it take around 3 minutes to complete but sometime it takes long time to finish the execution (running for 12 hours but still not completed, so killed the process instead). So, is there any way to failed the execution if takes over 1 hour? I cannot see any timeout setting for SSAS tabular. I am using version 20.10.22.64

Thanks.

Hi @hs734

Are you getting any errors in the event viewer on the server where the scheduler service is running? Do you have retries setup in the execution package? Are scheduled executions completing successfully most of the time, and the failures are intermittent? If so is there any pattern as to when the execution is failing e.g. during the day, but not at night? What does the memory usage look like on the AS instance in azure during the hung execution?

Hi Christian,

I am not getting any error in event viewer. Schedule execution completing successfully most of the time. Most of the time hung occur during the weekend at night time.  Need to check the memory usage on the AS instance in Azure. I want the execution  package to fail if it run for over 1 hour.

Thanks.

When your tabular model is reloading, are the source tables in your DWH databases being reloaded? Or is your DWH database under resource pressure? It may be that you are running backup processes or other things on the resources being loaded to SSAS / AAS and therefore experiencing longer runtimes.

Hi @hs734 have you had the chance to check the memory usage?

Hi @hs734 were you able to resolve or diagnose the issue further?
