Process maps are visual representations of workflows that illustrate the sequence of tasks and their dependencies within a process. They provide a clear overview of how data flows through various stages of a process, helping users understand the logic and structure of their workflows.

Why are Process Maps Useful?

Process maps offer several benefits:

  • Visualization: They offer a visual representation of complex workflows, making it easier for users to understand and analyze the sequence of tasks.

  • Efficient Troubleshooting and Time-Saving Benefits: Process maps in Turnkey enable users to efficiently troubleshoot and address issues during execution. With real-time updates, users can easily identify where a process failed and take corrective action, saving time and minimizing disruption to other processes and data within the system.
  • Transparency: Process maps provide transparency into the execution of tasks, enabling users to track progress and identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies.

Using Process Maps in Turnkey

Currently, users can view process maps within Turnkey, but the creation of processes and process maps is only available in the desktop client. However, users can still benefit from the features of process maps within Turnkey:

  • Execution Overview: Users can view an overview of past executions for each task on the map, including execution history and the status of each execution (successful or not).

  • Task Execution: Users can run the entire process or individual tasks/subprocesses directly from the process map within Turnkey.

  • Error Logs: Process maps in Turnkey also provide access to error logs, allowing users to review detailed information about any errors encountered during execution.

The process map in Turnkey is live, meaning that it updates in real-time as tasks are executed. Users can watch the entire process run step by step, providing a dynamic and interactive experience.

Efficient Troubleshooting and Time-Saving Benefits

The real-time updates feature in Turnkey's process maps not only allows users to monitor execution progress as tasks occur but also facilitates efficient troubleshooting. If a process is designed such that if Step 3 fails, Step 4 should not proceed until Step 3's data has been corrected, users can easily identify the failed step, address the underlying issue, and resume the execution from where it left off. This streamlined approach to troubleshooting saves significant time, particularly in scenarios where earlier steps in the process may have consumed substantial resources or time.

By halting the execution at the point of failure and enabling users to pick up from where they left off, the real-time updates feature in Turnkey prevents unnecessary reruns of lengthy or resource-intensive tasks. This capability not only saves time but also ensures that only the necessary steps are executed, minimizing disruption to other processes and data within the system.

Future Development

We are committed to enhancing the functionality of Turnkey and plan to add the capability to create processes and process maps directly within Turnkey in the near future. Stay tuned for updates!
