Run a schedule on demand and manage schedule groups
A schedule normally fires on its own timetable, and you can also start one by hand from the Executions page. This article covers manual runs, which environment a schedule appears under, and where schedule groups are managed on a cloud tenant.
Prerequisites
- The schedule needs at least one task assigned, and a schedule defined in ODQ Desktop.
Run a schedule on demand
- Go to Orchestration > Executions.
- Select a schedule.
- Select Run in the details panel on the right.
The row moves through Queued, Running and Finished, or Failed if one of its tasks fails, updating on its own. You do not need to select Refresh. The run appears in both Last 5 executions and Full History.
You can do the same from a process map: open a schedule group's task history and select Run there.
How a manual run behaves
- A disabled schedule can still be run by hand. Switching a schedule off stops it firing on its timetable, and does not stop you starting it yourself. It stays visible in the grid with its history.
- Running a Continuous schedule by hand shifts its next run time. A Continuous schedule runs again once the previous run finishes, and a manual run counts as that previous run. No other frequency is affected this way.
- A Continuous schedule that is already running does not start a second time. Selecting Run stops cleanly and no new run appears.
- Stop is visible but unavailable while a schedule runs, with a tooltip explaining that a running schedule cannot be stopped from here.
Which environment a schedule appears under
Each schedule has an Execute environment, set in its ODQ Desktop editor, and appears in the Executions grid for that environment only. A Production schedule is listed under Production, not under Development and Testing.
- A schedule with no Execute environment set appears in the Production grid.
- A schedule with no schedule defined is not listed in any environment. It can never run.
Schedule groups on a cloud tenant
On a cloud tenant, schedule groups are managed in TimeXtender Data Platform. Opening, creating or double-clicking a schedule group in ODQ Desktop, from the object tree, the Schedule Group list, or a recent item on the Start Page, shows:
Schedule Group management has moved to TimeXtender Data Platform.
The message offers Open in TDP and Close.
These right-click actions are unavailable on cloud: Rename, Delete, Move and Change System, including moving a group by dragging it.
Every user on a cloud tenant sees this. No role or permission exempts you, and there is no setting to turn it off. It applies to every cloud tenant.
