Clean up of old projects versions

I would say to limit to xx (10) most recent versions?

Tried that. The open/save isn't quicker. Currently I am looking at 20 seconds of saving time.

Really annoying when deploying objects.

What can be offered to speed up this process?

Perhals allow the choice of incremental or full save.
Incrementals for minor version numbers, full save for major versions.

Has anybody went through the trouble of creating a general script to clean up old project versions?
