Cloning tables across data area / cloning entire data area

We currently have one data area in which we do most of our transformations, over time it has continue to grow and include data from different systems. Not all of these systems are related to each other, so where we thinking of maybe seperating these into seperate data areas just to make is more managable to work with these tables from different systems.

Therefore, I am wondering if it is possible to clone either the entire data area with literally all the relations, lookups, table transformations, descriptions etc. Without dragging it from one data area to another. Because this will both map it to the original data area, which I don't want, plus it does not include any of the descriptions which I would also like to include.

So to summarize, I am looking to either clone the entire data area, and then I can work back and delete all the tables/views that I do not need, or adding tables individually.

Hi @spenning

It is not really possible to clone a data area. It would be an feature request that it could be possible.

To split up the tables and the areas you could use perspectives. Once you turn it on it will only show the tables added to it, making working on it easier to do.

@spenning it is possible to copy instance metadata from one instance to the another by transferring the instance. Please see the below guide:

However, as Thomas mentions copying a data area within an instance is not currently supported. I have converted this to a product idea
