We are having trouble with our ssas tabular model, because we have sql server standard edition which has a 16gb cap for it's memory use. We were wondering if there is a possibility to change the default mode of the instance to Directquery in Timextender itself in order to prevent memory usage. I think if I try to change it in ssms it will be overwritten by the next job.
If this option is not available, maybe convert it to a product idea in case others are also interested in this feature.
Also for others, feel free to discuss other possible options to combate memory problems. We already reducing the model size with removing unused columns / changing data types / reducing memory usage of columns. For the discussion, splitting up the model into smaller models is an obvious solution that we are also taking into account, as well as going to power bi premium.
