Can we get a visualization (on fields) for tags when active with perspective,

for example tagging custom fields for customers like this, see image.

On top of that, can we get the ability to search on tags?  What good are they without this?

Wouldn't you want to use Description instead? It can contain any text, can be put on virtually anything in the tree (field, table, view, join, etc.) not only on fields, it will highlight the node with bold font, you can see the description in the tooltip if you hoover the mouse cursor over the node, and you can search for any text within the descriptions in the Find dialog (if you check the checkbox to do so).

Tags were meant for a very specific purpose: to mark fields containing sensitive data and to be compliant with GDPR rules, so that you could generate a documentation (e.g. pdf) containing only fields marked with specific tags.

We could perhaps consider treating Tags as a second Description: include them in the the tooltip, mark fields with them in bold fond, searching in descriptions could also search in Tags. Just a suggestion.

I thought of that but it's very 'unstructured'.  I'd have to come up with a personal methodology for putting special characters in the text to consistently search.  Tag's prevent mispellings as well causing things not to be found.  If i have not other choice, I can make descriptions work.

It would be so nice to be able to generate some type of documentation like report based on the changes from one saved version to another selected saved (or current) version so you can easily see the delta.

Basically a 'change tracking' log.

Tags would be a great way to add structured metadata, for instance labelling measures as 'Calculated' vs. 'Estimated'. It would be even more powerful if the tree could be filtered on tags just like with Perspectives.

To expand on Mark's idea: having automatic tags that build on the version number would be great too. For instance 'Added in version <xx>', 'Modified in version <xx>', 'Removed from version <xx>'.

It would be nice if you would be able to toggle the tags on and off like the data type for example [<Fieldname>] NVARCHAR(50) - <Tag>. I'm now using the tags to be able to generate the data flow reports per data source for SOx compliance but the tags are now quite hidden and there's no overview at a glance to see if all fields needed are tagged.

Additionally, when creating the documentation template the Tag has to be entered manually. Would be nice if this could be a drop down selection which includes the created tags already instead of having to enter them manually to avoid typos.
