Accessing Unity Catlog (Azure Databricks) with TimeXtender (20.10.44)
Hi, I have a unity catalog in azure databricks where I want to connect to from Timextender (20.10.44), I installed the Cdata connector for Databricks (2024) and am able to connect via test connection (succesfully connected) but when i try to save TX has issues with the length of the (Protocol ?) version which is empty but also using 1 till 8 which are available in the drop down list all result in the same error
21371: Support CData new versioning Updated the changes CData have implemented to support new versions of the drivers.
So you need to upgrade to version 20.10.51 at least to handle the 24.0.xxxx.0 releases.
If you do not want to upgrade, you will need to downgrade your existing version to one of the 23.0.xxxx.0 releases.
Thank you for the message Thomas, as i am not able to upgrade soon I need to downgrade the connector, I tried to install any 23.. version but none of them will be downloaded via the manage cdata connectors, also removing the 24 folder in the databricks folder did not result in the possibility of downloading a 23.. Databricks CD connector, do you know another way how i can get the cdata connector of Databricks version 23.. ?
Kind regards,
Linda Monincx
Hi,
under Manage CData Providers there is a little pulldown arrow at the right of the Add button, click that and choose Add Specific Versions. You will find at least one 23.X version there (tested on 20.10.47) and can add that. You will then just need to change the provider on your existing connection (don't forget to export the connection string beforehand to have a backup of the settings).
Hi Rory, done that but selecting any databricks version other then 24 and clicking on OK will not result in visability in the connector list nor will it generate the download in the location of the cdata connectors on the server, so it seems it will only download 24 but selecting 23 does nothing unfortunately
Hi,
It seems to work for me. Are you trying to add this in TimeXtender or the ODX? They have separate paths to store the components. It could also be that Windows is preventing TimeXtender from writing to the specific path, perhaps running TX as Administrator changes things?
I do this directly in the desktop version of Timextender (no odx server), i can add anything else but not the databricks parts, also when first install the 24 version of data bricks ends up in a folder in the cdata folder but will not show in the manage cdata, trying to set up a odx connection I do have the 24 databricks available, but I need some how to extract the 23 package make it available in the cdata folder and use that one
Hi,
that extra GUID-like stuff you see at the end should not be there. I think you need to open a support ticket for that.
Hi @linda.monincx
The GUID part is what the fix in 20.10.51 resolves.
When I attempt to install an older version I can see plenty of different providers.
Once you have chosen one in a Major version the others is removed from the available options.
You can try to place the version in the folder it looks in while TX is closed.
