Question regarding upgrading 20.10.45 to 20.10.73

Hello,

My current employer uses TX 20.10.45 (ODX and other services). We sometimes experience some bugs and want to ugprade to the latest version.

I was told that it is better to have the ODX and the other services on the same version. So i was thinking about ODX 20.10.73 and the same version for other services.

Now the main question: Is it possible to upgrade from 20.10.45 directly to 20.10.73 without any installation issues? Or do we need to upgrade in phases?

Thanks for your help and anwsers.

Kind regards,

Tim

Hi,

you can upgrade directly in the sense that there is no proscribed intermediate step to take. It is is good to be aware of certain changes that happened in between these versions:

  • full support for SQL 2022
  • removal of the SQLite local database, check the version notes to understand what to check
  • some changes to PK handling for history/incremental with deletion handling and key updates

Also it is good to realise that the ODX cannot be downgraded without help from TX support if something does end up going wrong and reverting is the route you need to take and certain versions of connectors won't work with newer versions of the ODX; you may need to upgrade source connectors.
