Note: To help keep your TimeXtender environment secure, we highly recommend enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for your organization. MFA adds an extra verification step when signing in, which greatly reduces the risk of unauthorized access to your data.

Ensuring the security of your TimeXtender account is essential. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) provides an extra layer of protection by requiring an additional verification step beyond just a password. This guide will walk you through the process of setting up MFA, including prerequisites and how to disable it if necessary.

What is MFA?

Multi-Factor Authentication requires you to confirm your identity with something more than just your password. In TimeXtender, this means entering a time-based one-time password (TOTP) from an authenticator app on your phone or device when you sign in.

If someone gets your password, they still cannot access your TimeXtender Portal without the code from your authenticator app, which helps protect both your portal configuration and your TimeXtender Data Integration (TDI) environments.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you meet the following prerequisites:

  • You must be logged in to your TimeXtender account
  • You must be a Company Admin to set up MFA. If unsure about permissions, please review User Permissions

Enabling Multi-Factor Authentication

  1. Click on Admin and then Basic info
  2. Then click Enable multi-factor under the Multi-factor sign-in section
  3. Click Enable to confirm and to implement MFA for your company

Verification

After enabling MFA, you can complete and verify the configuration:

  1. Sign out of the TimeXtender Portal.

  2. Go to https://app.timextender.com and sign in again.

  3. A QR code will be displayed, open your authenticator app and scan the QR code

  4. Enter the one-time password shown for your TimeXtender account.

If you can sign in successfully with the code, MFA is active for your organization.

How to Disable MFA

  1. Click on Admin and then Basic info
  2. Then click Disable multi-factor under the Multi-factor sign-in section
  3. Click Disable to confirm

Hi,

probably good to add that resetting MFA (when you cannot migrate your Auth app to a new phone or similar) requires a ticket with support for now.
