Additional connection properties - new TX version(s)

Hello,

for one of our customers we are using the “Odbc Data Provider” so that we can a local ODBC with a specific driver called "Progress OpendeEdge” (Source: ProFashionALL). We need to add Additional Connection Properties for this datasource. In the older TX versions (< v20) we could add these Additional Properties. This is missing in the new TX version so we can't connect to this source at the moment. This is the main source and crucial in this project. Anyone ran into this issue or has a workaround?

There is a workaround but this must done at the source where they store the credentials in the “_user table". I hoped there would be a solution at our (TX) side.

Hi @vw-victa can you please specify the additional property that you are trying to change? Can you please share a screenshot of the settings for the Odbc data source in the legacy version?

Hi Christian,

I would like to add the User ID and Password. The Windows ODBC data source comes with a popup for the password. Testing it will give a “connection succefull” result. Using the old version of TimeXtender we can add the additional opties to the ODBC data source, see image. This feature isn't support in the new version using de portal.

Hi @vw-victa it should work if you specify the user ID and Password in the registry editor

Hi @Christian Hauggaard ,

for a standard SQL this could be a solution but for our (specific) ODBC connector (Progress OpenEdge) I can't set the password (see image). Don't know if we can add it manually?

Can you please try adding the properties by right-clicking and selecting new string value?

Hi @Christian Hauggaard ,

I added the string to the register but still no luck. It is waiting for the password (through popup) and after x seconds the time-out will occur.

Hi @rory.smith , thanks for your answer but unfortunately is your topic about DataDirect. If the additional connection properties aren't available within TimeXtender (or on the roadmap) I need to ask the administrator of the database if he can add these credentials to the _User table.

Hi @Christian Hauggaard , the credentials were already added to the _User table. Adding the credentials to the register did the trick. I thought it didn't but I need to be patient I guess.

I've marked the “best anwser” and for now it is solved.

@vw-victa Great! what were the final names for the credential string values in the registry editor - “User Id” and “Password”?
