Does anyone have experience with the “BI Cloud Connector“ of Oracle? They (Oracle supplier) say it could be used to extract data from Oracle Cloud to your local database.
Currently we use scheduled CSV exports from Oracle to a SFTP location to load via ODX into TimeXtender. We wish to replace/remove this step and connect TX directly to Oracle Cloud.
This Oracle BI Cloud connector inserts data into a database of choice (instead of the TX ODX pulling it out of a database). How can we integrate this with our TX environment?

Hi @juriaan.hensbroek
If the Oracle BI Cloud connector inserts data into a database, you could then bring in that data using an ODX data source (e.g. TimeXtender SQL data source)
Another option could be to connect to the database in TimeXtender directly to bring in the objects.
In TimeXtender version 20.10, this can be done using External SQL connection
In TimeXtender 6675.2, this can be done using the Integrate Existing Objects feature:
You can also ingest the data using an Oracle data source.
Below are some options in 20.10.
In TimeXtender 6675.2, there is the TimeXtender Oracle data source
Thanks for your reply Christian.
If I understand you correctly, you approach it like it's just a regular database (after the data is exported by the connector). That the connector can export Cloud report data into a database instead of a csv file, would already be a great improvement, but it would be much better if we can skip this export step and directly connect to Oracle Cloud, potentially via this Cloud connector.
The connector pushes data. It does not allow TX to pull it in via the ODX (I assume). Maybe the connector could push the data directly into the ODX storage db. But then I think it will give issues for TX in the application.
Before we knew about this BI Cloud connector we tried to use the different CData connectors for Oracle Cloud, as shown in your screenshot, but with these we couldn't find the right tables (didn't recognize the available ones) and we cannot connect to our prepared reports.
@juriaan.hensbroek Pushing data straight into ODX storage without creating a data source is not currently supported.
Please try using the other Oracle data sources suggested above rather than the Cdata oracle data sources or use the other workarounds mentioned above
