Today, we’ve published a minor release of TimeXtender Data Integration (v. 7135.1) in preparation for Microsoft's upcoming requirement for mandatory multi-factor authentication for Azure that begins rolling out on 1 October.
We recommend that you install this hotfix if you’re using Microsoft Fabric storage and have not postponed the enforcement of the new policy, but otherwise wait for the next major release.
Improvements
- Service principal authentication is now supported for Fabric instance storage. A user account without multi-factor authentication enabled is thus no longer required to connect.
- We’ve added three new input fields for service principal authentication on PowerBI endpoints in the TDI Portal. PowerBI endpoints are affected by the new policy, but already support user principal authentication using the workaround described below.
- If you've upgraded TDI to v. 7135, you can begin using the new fields.
- If you haven't upgraded TDI to v. 7135, you can enter the service principal credentials in the Username and Password fields as follows:
Username: app:<Application ID>@<Tenant ID>
Password: <Secret>
