Error "Installation Issues on Locked Down VDI Image" while Installing TimeXtender O&DQ Desktop


Symptoms

Error while installing TimeXtender O&DQ Desktop on a controlled desktop where the user does not have admin rights. If the admin credentials are used to perform the installation when a user is signed in, the software is installed under the Admin’s ID instead of the logged in user.

Resolution

To resolve the installation issues on a locked down VDI image and to install the user under the logged in user, follow these steps:

  1. Use the MSI Installer:

  • Download the MSI installer for the correct version of TimeXtender O&DQ Desktop.
  • This method simplifies future updates with a straightforward "Next -> Next -> Upgrade" wizard.

  • Manually download the correct version of the software.
  • Transfer the downloaded files to the user's computer.
  • Unzip the files on the user's computer.
