 Hi,

I am running a legacy version of TimeXtender (version 20.10.40.64), where we have an Excel Online connection set up using CData ADO.NET Provider for Microsoft Excel Online 2022 (22.0.8389.0) as data source.

This data source is configured to authenticate via Azure ‘client flow’, see picture.

The app registration in Azure has the following permissions:

The data source works properly most of the time. It is able to list the worksheets it finds on the SharePoint site, and can fetch data. However, scheduled execution packages sometimes fails with the following error message:

[500] Could not execute the specified command: Error while listing workbooks for drive: [generalException] General exception while processing.

Details:

Error while listing workbooks for drive: [generalException] General exception while processing.

It seems like the error rate is about 1 in 10, and I cannot find any pattern for when the execution packages fail.

Has anyone encountered this before? I’m thinking that it is due to some permission missing from the Azure App Registration, but I’m not sure.

Best regards,

Pontus

Hi Pontus

There have in past versions been some issues where it could not locate the files existing in the folders you look at. I assume this has been improved upon in the newer versions of this provider.

Unfortunately, we if I remember correctly also got back from asking about this, that it may be an Microsoft issue where it can’t locate the files with the GraphAPI which is uses for this.

Can you generate a log on verbosity level 3 and once you experience this error, send this log to support@timextender.com where you add this URL as a reference.

Hi @Pontus Olausson

Have you had the chance to test newer versions of the provider? Were you able to generate a log file?

Hi @Christian Hauggaard,

I am still getting this error on the 2023 version of the excel online provider. For us it happens every time, on the synchronize task. So we are unable to load any sharepoint files.

I sent an e-mail to support@timextender.com in July (#27622), but it was never resolved as I didn't have time to troubleshoot it myself in Postman.

Kind regards,

Andrew

@andrew.gebhard

I have a ticket, not the one referred here about the same issue. I involved CData, but it is apparently not easy to see what causes this.

I have sent logs to them where it happens. However it only happens some times and not necessarily for the same file.

If a solution is found, I will add it here.

Hi @andrew.gebhard

We uploaded a new version of the provider. Version 23.0.8687.0

According to them it should resolve the issue.

@Pontus Olausson @andrew.gebhard did you et the chance to upgrade to the latest version of the provider as mentioned by Thomas above? If so please let us know if this resolves the issue

Hi Christian,

The updated version of the provider seems to solve the issue.

Kind regards,

Andrew
